Blackberry Touch 9800

What I loved about Blackberry? The answer is rather simple, just continue reading :). It has a full touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard which more or less suits me now. Just by looking at the design of the phone can easily make a person go crazy. Although it is not as pretty as an iPhone 4 does, but we do look alternatively into the matter where the price of the phone, OS, camera, memory and much more plays an important role which I will explain later on in this post. Here's an overall view of the phone.

First things first, we talk about the price. Pricing at almost RM2.2k (online market price), it can surely be placed side by side with the iPhone 4 16GB pricing at RRP RM2290.  But, the way I love it isn't about the price here.

The OS used is Blackberry 6 which has an enhanced music player worked along with the large screen (3.2 inch 480x360 pixel). BlackBerry Torch 9800 also has a multitouch feature which most smartphones have nowadays. Considering it has a little classy look rather than double-tap-to-zoom, this is one of the reason why I chooses the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Here's a look into the music player.

Also don't forgot they have a expandable memory up to 32GB with a microSD card. You can easily upgrade it without feeling any regrets after doing so!

Now let's talk about the camera. It is equipped with a 5MP camera with flash, continuous auto-focus and image stabilization, plus 11 photo modes and video recording. Personally, I love the camera too. 5MP is more than enough for a student like me who don't often take picture other than using a REAL camera to do the task. In this way, I won't miss a single moment if I have this BlackBerry Torch 9800 on my hand :D

Next would be the internet browsing. As you all would know, I can't live a day or probably half a day without Internet. I always hoped that my current phone can connect to WiFi and start browsing but sadly, it don't have this feature. But in BlackBerry Torch 9800, they have 802.11 b/g/n which most servers connects only b/g. It is also Cisco CCX verified. Let's not go too far now, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 could also do multiple website with tabbed  browsing and has a smooth movement when changing between tabbed websites. The browser also uses text size preferences to resize text within the browser - ensuring it's always the size I want it to be. The Blackberry webKit browser also renders websites much better than the previous browser. In this case, it wins the iPhone 4's Safari in terms of changing between pages speed. Take that, iFags!

There's one last thing which I loved about the phone, the QWERTY keyboard. It has a trackpad if you don't wish to use the touch screen, but who doesn't :P. It has a on-screen keyboard but if you don't like it you can use the slide out keyboard that is specifically build on it. You surely don't want to poke your screen too long when you are writing a long email, don't you?

After all, it's still one of the wanted smartphones in the market.

Now let's talk about the plans by Celcom. It's called Celcom Exec 50. You can subscribe to this plan for as low as RM50 a month! I suppose that this is the standard charging fees (or considering a cheap one) if you compared it to the iPhone 4 which has the lowest monthly fees of RM58. But, heck we're not gonna compare this with iPhone 4 again! Now let's see some of the benefits you will get with the plan.
- 15 sen call rate to any number. Nothing complicated; just a simple rate to all numbers
15 cents to all numbers. Well, pick up this phone when you already subscribed for it and call for THE most expensive network it would charge. Who knows? Probably your girlfriend is prompting you to call her every single night but her network is charging you more than you can imagine. This could just be the right thing for you!

- Automatic discounts every month.
Imagine waking up a lovely Sunday morning. Brewed your cup of coffee. Sitting comfortably on your couch. Opening mails and found out that you just spend over a few hundred ringgits on your telephone bills! Celcom Exec 50 offers an automatic discounts every month as written above. So you won't cut your limbs to sell to the loan sharks for paying your telephone bills.

- Talk more, save more. The more you use, the more discounts of up to 30% every month
This is what I meant by talking with your girlfriend everyday. Talk more, save more. Add one more, love more. You could talk all day with your girlfriend (or friends if you prefer) without worrying about your bills exceeding three digit numbers cause the more you use, you get up to 30% discount!

- Low monthly commitment of only RM50.
Hmm, blame me for not studying more in English but what's a monthly commitment fees? Oh yeah, googled that. So it is a basic fees that you require to pay EVERY MONTH. Well of course, you're gonna pay it for your plan. Duhh!

- FREE Celcom Broadband Basic Plan for 1 month with speeds of up to 384 Kbps
Althought 384Kbps doesn't sound too interesting to you, but it's better than 0Kbps. If it's free, what you expect from them? 10Mbps? For other telcos, of course you might get higher but bare in mind, you PAID for it. This is absolutely FREE. Although the duration is only 1 month but sometimes it's more than enough for students like us who could use some free WiFi at some random coffee shops (sorry Starbucks!).

Celcom will be launching this phone on 29 October this year. Amazing deals awaits you when you sign up for Celcom on the exact spot. There will be a lot of fun activities and prizes to giveaway on that day. Who knows? You might get a few free stuff from Celcom just by visiting there or do a simple survey! We are all typical Malaysians, WE LOVE FREE ITEMS!! And also, if you are one of the first 100 customers to pre-register & purchase the BlackBerry Torch 9800 with the Celcome Exec Postpaid plan, you will get to enjoy the early bird promotion as they provide it for FREE!
